While there are many other places to stay in Belfast we believe that Tara Lodge should be your first choice when booking accommodation. Tara Lodge offers all our guests an experience that will rival any hotel in Belfast. We offer the comfort of a four star hotel bedroom, with a five star hotel breakfast but with the friendliness and professional staff of a guest house. We don’t have a restaurant or bar onsite but we are happy to recommend the following restaurants based on the experience of previous guests and our staff:

Places to Eat:

Drennans: Delightful, intimate, French Bistro located in the traditional University Area of Belfast, with the bonus of being able to bring your own wine!  £-£££

Bengal Brasserie:
A trendy up-market Indian Restaurant, serving superb traditional Indian Cuisine in a chic atmosphere.  ££-£££

Harlem Cafe:
Located beside the iconic Ulster Hall; the Harlem Cafe serves up casual bites for people looking something fresh, fancy, and not too pricey in a handy location to the city centre.  £-££

Cayenne: Cayenne is a trail blazing restaurant pioneered by Paul & Jeanne Rankin with funky avant-garde interior with an eclectic menu with an Asian twist. Well worth a visit especially for the good value £20 and £25 set menus. 10 minutes walk away ££-£££

Mourne Seafood: Wonderful fresh sea food from the Mourne area of Co. Down. As well as the extensive fish menu this restaurant also offers a good selection of meat and vegetarian options. 20 minutes walk away ££-£££

Once you have filled your day with exciting activities (or in some cases business!) and eaten your fill, you’ll need somewhere to go to finish the night off in style.

Places to have a drink:

Bar Twelve: Intimate, boutique bar that does great pub grub. 5 minute walk away

The Empire: Just round the corner, the Empire is a lively music venue with great bands playing Thurs-Sun. Tribute acts are a common feature every Friday. Great comedy night on Tuesdays. 5 minutes walk away

Apartment: This sleek and modern bar overlooks the bustling area around the city hall and offers an extensive cocktail list. 15 minutes walk away

Fibber Magee’s: The best pub in which to find live traditional music seven days a week. Full of locals and plenty of craic! 15 minutes walk away

The John Hewitt: The place to go to find cultural and artistic expression with a great atmosphere. Live music most nights. Located in the Cathedral Quarter approx £4.00 in a taxi

The Duke of York: Located in the cathedral quarter, this busy pub is worth a visit for the Guinness alone. Very popular with locals and visitors alike. Located in the Cathedral Quarter approx £4.00 in a taxi

The Crown Bar: Owned by the National Trust, the Crown is a must see. Whether you’re drinking Guinness or a coke you’ll be amazed by the ornate decor of the original Victorian Gin Palace. Opposite the Europa Hotel 15 minutes walk away
